VLSID 2027 Student Research Forum / PhD Forum
VLSID 2027 will host a Student Research Forum / PhD Forum as part of the main conference. The purpose of this forum is to enable students, who are pursuing research or have recently submitted their PhD thesis in the area of VLSI and allied areas, to interact with experts from academia and industry to get valuable feedback in an informal setting.
Eligibility
1. Student Research Forum: Students pursuing their undergraduate (3rd and 4th year at the time of submission), postgraduate (2nd year at the time of submission) or doctoral studies at a recognized University are eligible to participate. Students who are pursuing PhD and have not yet completed their thesis defense are also eligible.
2. PhD Forum: Students who have completed their PhD thesis defense on or after 1st Jan 2025 are eligible to participate. Please note that students who have submitted their thesis but are still awaiting reviews are not eligible and can consider submitting to SRF.
Submission Process
Interested candidates may submit their details (name, affiliation, faculty advisor, etc), list of peer-reviewed publications (with DOIs and URLs) and 2-page extended abstract highlighting the key contributions of their research work using the following templates in PDF format:

Candidates submitting their work to the PhD Forum should also include the title of their thesis, date of thesis defense and URL link to their thesis. Proof of studentship (for SRF) / Proof of thesis defense (for PhDF) are mandatory at the time of submission.

Submissions to the Student Research Forum and PhD Forum will be selected based on the quality of research work, its relevance to the VLSID conference and the candidate’s academic achievements and publication record in journals and international conferences. Accepted extended abstracts will not be included in the conference proceedings.
Mentor-Mentee Interactions
At least two mentor–mentee interaction sessions are planned—one prior to the conference and another during the conference. Shortlisted SRF and PhD Forum participants will have the opportunity to connect with experienced professionals from both academia and industry for guidance, networking, and career development. These sessions are designed to provide personalized feedback on research, facilitate meaningful professional connections, and support participants in planning their academic and career trajectories.
Participation
Conference registration costs will be waived for the selected candidates and accommodation may be arranged upon request. Participants in the Student Research Forum will be required to submit their proof of studentship upon acceptance. Participants in the PhD Forum will be required to submit their proof of thesis defense upon acceptance.
Presentation
Participants in the Student Research Forum will get an opportunity to present their research work in the form of 2-minute lightning talks followed by a poster session. The best candidate will be awarded a ‘Best SRF Poster’ award as decided by the committee.
Participants in the PhD Forum will get an opportunity to discuss their research work in the form of 10-minute presentations followed by 5-minute question & answer sessions.
The best candidate will be awarded a ‘Best PhD Thesis’ award as decided by the committee.
A certificate of participation would be given at the end of the conference.
