Startup Forum

Indian engineers are exposed every day to the best of the opportunities and toughest of the challenges in semiconductor movement around the world. A large number of skillful engineers, working in India, have become a critical part of semiconductor value chain. Now, even though semiconductor giants have significant R&D presence in India and Government of India has launched multiple stimulus like the Make in India program, India’s electronics imports touched a record $55.6 billion in FY19.

The 33rd International Conference on VLSI Design & The 19th International Conference on Embedded Design will provide a platform for the members of startup ecosystem, established global and Indian multinationals, academia and government agencies to discuss how semiconductor startups, especially in the domain of electronic component manufacturing, can be further enriched in India.

Topics discussed will include but not be limited to

  • Can we change the India scenario with the advent of deep tech and semiconductor startup companies?
  • What type of opportunities exists for semiconductor startups in India?
  • What are the challenges faced by semiconductor professionals and organizations?
  • What needs to be done to create a well-rounded silicon ecosystem in India using startups as a catalyst

To facilitate this discussion, we have setup two events focused on startup:

1. Plenary session focused on Startups on January 8, 2020: “Opportunities and Challenges for Semicon Startups in India”

          Panelists:-

  • Dr. K Vijaya Raghavan (Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India)
  • Bala Girisaballa (TechStars)
  • Nagendra Nagaraja (AlphaiAI)
  • Ravi Gururaj (TiE Bangalore)
  • Arun Venkatachalam (Western Digital)
  • Apu Sivadas (SteradianSemi)

2. Plenary session on “VLSI in India” on January 7, 2020
