Keynote Speaker: Baaziz Achour
Baaziz Achour
Baaziz Achour is Senior VP of engineering at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., where he is responsible for global research and development activities associated with wireless technologies, such as WLAN, Position Location, 3G, 4G, and now 5G. Achour has overseen systems engineering activities in QCT since 2002 and all of Wide Area Network wireless modems development since 2006. Prior to joining QCT, Achour held a systems leadership role in the design and commercialization of the worlds first CDMA base station and later Qualcomm’s first cdma2000 handsets. Achour holds an MS and PhD from Tufts University and more than 30 patents. His research interests include Multimode protocols, signal processing, communication theory, and cognitive radio.

Nivruti Rai
Topic: VLSI - Turbocharging the AI revolution
Nivruti is responsible for leading Intel India operations across R&D Execution, Innovation, Business Enablement and driving Strategic Ecosystem Engagements with government, academia and industry bodies for driving Intel India’s growth strategy. She is based in Bengaluru, she provides overall engineering and business unit leadership and leads operations for the site, drives innovation, cross-group efficiency and execution for engineering teams delivering global products and roadmaps. Along with this, she is responsible for talent development and grooming technologists and leaders for global responsibilities. Nivruti also actively works with the government at national and state levels, industry groups, startups, academia and research towards building a strong and vibrant technology ecosystem in India. In addition, along with Intel Sales and Marketing Group she is responsible for growing business and strengthening customer/ecosystem relationships in India.
In her keynote, Nivruti will talk about the data explosion in the era of AI and Cloud and how the VLSI industry has enabled the turbocharging of the revolution.

Suk Lee
Topic: Technology directions for a bright semiconductor future
Mr. Suk Lee has over 30 years of experience in the Semiconductor, EDA, and IP industries and is currently Senior Director of Design Infrastructure Management Division at TSMC, where he is responsible for managing the OIP Ecosystem and business operations for the Design Technology Platform.
He is a veteran of the ASIC industry and has held engineering, marketing, and senior management positions at LSI Logic, Texas Instruments, Cadence, and Magma Design Systems where he was GM and VP of the Custom Design Business Unit. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from MIT and Master of Science from the University of Toronto.

Max M Shulaker
Topic: Transforming Ideas to Reality: Emerging Nanotechnologies from the “Lab” to the “Fab”
Max Shulaker is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where he leads the NOVELS (Novel Electronic Systems Group) at MIT. His research group focuses on the broad area of nanosystems: understanding and optimizing multidisciplinary interactions across the entire computing stack to enable the next generation of energy-efficient computing systems. Key breakthroughs from the group range from low-level nanomaterial synthesis to novel fabrication processes and circuit designs for emerging nanotechnologies, up to new system architectures. His passion lies in transforming fundamental scientific advances into working systems that promise to impact and improve our daily lives. Through their unique approach, Max and his students have demonstrated some of the most advanced beyond-silicon electronic systems realized to-date, with applications ranging from next-generation computers to healthcare.

Topic: Where Today meets Tomorrow – Harnessing the Power of AI
Stefan Jockusch is vice president of Strategy for Siemens Digital Industries Software, a business unit of the Siemens Digital Factory Division. In this role, he is responsible for driving strategic business planning and market intelligence as well as coordinating business activities across all Siemens PM Software business segments and with Digital Factory Division leadership. Jockusch has served in a number of business leadership and R&D management roles, driving the development and market introduction of radically innovative mechatronic systems, demonstrating ability to build and grow winning cross-functional and multinational teams, foster partnerships with suppliers, build a strong patent portfolio and improve overall business performance.

Yvain Thonnart
Topic: Towards a scalable silicon quantum computer
Yvain Thonnart joined CEA-Leti, a French research and technology organization, in 2005, where he is now senior expert on communication and synchronization in Systems on Chip.
His main interests include networks on chip, silicon photonic based communication, and digital cryolelectronics for quantum systems.
He is involved in the definition of system architecture and hardware-software interaction for a future large-scale Si-based quantum computer.
Keynote Speaker: Navakanta Bhat
Navakanta Bhat
Navakanta Bhat received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA in 1996. Then he worked at Motorola’s Networking and Computing Systems Group under Advanced Products R&D Lab (APRDL) in Austin, TX until 1999. He joined the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1999 where he is currently Professor and Chair, Centre for Nano Science and Engineering. His current research is focused on Nanoelectronics device technology, Biosensors for point of care diagnostics and Gas sensors for pollution monitoring. He has over 300 research publications in international journals and conferences and over 30 US patents to his credit.
He is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and an elected Fellow of IEEE. He has received several awards for his research achievements, including the prestigious Infosys Prize (2018) for contributions in Engineering and Computer Science. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Electron Devices Society and also the Chair of Nanotechnology technical committee. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Electron Devices Society. He was the Editor of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, (2013-2015), and the chief-editor of the IEEE TED special issue on “2D Materials for Electronic, Optoelectronic and Sensors”. He was the technical program chair for the International Conference on VLSI design and Embedded Systems in 2007. He was the Chairman of the Human Resource Development and Infrastructure committee of the National Program on Micro and Smart Systems and was the member of the committee set up by the Principal Scientific Adviser to Govt. of India to recommend strategies to develop semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India.
He is the founder and promoter of a startup company, PathShodh Healthcare Pvt Ltd (www.pathshodh.com). Based on his group’s research in biosensors, PathShodh has developed the first of its kind multi-analyte point-of-care diagnostic device for 5 blood tests and 3 urine tests, related to multiple chronic diseases including diabetes and its complications, anemia and malnutrition, kidney and liver diseases. For this technology, PathShodh has received multiple recognitions.
